I used to subscribe to Birchbox, but after Christmas I decided that I would stop my subscription with them. The useability of the items I was getting started to decline, and I wasn’t prepared to spend £13 a month if I wasn’t getting the most out of the box. Of course, I could have left it there, but no. I had to go and find myself another subscription box to subscribe to. I’ve been eyeing up Papergang by Ohh Deer for ages now (as you probably know, I love stationery) so, naturally, I chose them. Here I’ll be showing you what I got in my March Papergang box, as well as another 2 bonus boxes!
I say two bonus boxes, but really I mean the March and February boxes, as well as 1 bonus box from a few years ago. I got my first subscription in February, however they had a deal on for 2 boxes for the price of one. How can you resist double the stationery for half the price? I was given the 2017 November box as my extra one – the monthly diary they gave was for November, which sucks as I can no longer use it, but the products in there were gorgeous so all is forgiven.
Let’s start with the March Papergang box as this is one you can still buy for yourself (if you’re thinking of getting it, please use my referral link!). This box has a gorgeous butterfly theme, and £1 per box sold goes towards butterfly conservation! If that’s not another incentive to buy it, other than the fact you’re getting some amazing stationery, I don’t know what is.
In the March Papergang, we get a weekly planner pad in the gorgeous butterfly pattern. This is going to be perfect for me now that I should be starting to study for my final exams! We also have some butterfly-shaped paperclips that come in a handy wee box, and an amazing gold enamel pin. I have a huge denim jacket with loads of patches that I still have to sew on, but this will look good alongside those!
Since the 2017 November box, I’m not sure exactly when, Papergang have started to give monthly diaries without any month names or days printed on them. I think this is a much better idea, especially since I haven’t received my box until around two weeks into the month. If the calendar was for that month, I’ve already lost half of it not being able to use it! At least I can use it in full for the following month, or save it until I’m ready to use it.
The final items I received in my March box were these three butterfly themed prints. They are all so beautiful, but I especially love the middle one with the “there are always flowers for those who want to see them” quote, and the print on the far right with its cute lilac colour, and names of each butterfly. I love how the far left matches the pin, but the other two have to be my favourites! I think all of these would look great framed, so a trip to IKEA might be in order.
Moving onto my February box! It was filled with a mixture of bright and pastel colours, and again I received the non-specific monthly calendar which I love. This time, I got 4 sheets of stickers, all identical to the one shown in the picture. These will be perfect for my bullet journal – some will be good for writing titles / subsections on, although some are too small for that and will just look great as decoration. They’ll certainly brighten up my study plan!
Another thing that will be great for studying are the sticky notes! They have an adorable face printed on them, as do the pens and the notebook. I can’t get enough of coloured pens, I have the beloved Muji ones for my course notes and they’re a dream. That doesn’t stop me from buying more, however. I can’t wait to use these chunkier felt tip pens and see how they write!
The notebook has lines on one side of the page and is blank on the other. I’ve never had a jotter like that before, but I think it’ll be a great one to keep in your bag and jot down ideas and doodle throughout the day!
The one thing I got in this box that wasn’t actually part of it is the Papergang patch called ‘Drew’ (I love it). I believe that this is the patch given to every new subscriber, and it’ll look great on the denim jacket I mentioned earlier. I primarily put patches on there from places or cities I have travelled to, but I do have a few that I just find cute. This one is adorable and I can’t wait to sew it on!
And finally, the free box I got with my first purchase! It has a very summery/exotic vibe, which isn’t what I would’ve expected from a November box, but it certainly suits now as we’re coming into Spring. I’m loving the contrast of the dark blues against the turquoise and bright pinks!
First off, I got another weekly planner! Safe to safe I won’t need to buy myself one any time soon. But, as someone who loves to plan and organise, they won’t go unloved! In the same pattern as the planner we have an “it’s party time” greetings card which will be great for birthdays, and wrapping paper. I wouldn’t have expected the wrapping paper in a stationery box, but actually it makes a lot of sense. Not to mention it’s more unique than just another set of pens! Not that I’d be complaining… Pairing up the card and the wrapping paper to give to a friend will be so lovely, and will give the impression that you’re put together by matching the two, when really, you’re not.
Another thing that I didn’t expect but I love, is the drinks coaster in the top right corner. I love the exotic birds pattern, and again I think it’s such a unique item. I always bring a drink to bed with me, and I’m also currently redecorating my room to be fairly white and neutral. This coaster will add the pop of colour I need! In the same pattern, we have three sticker sheets which I can’t wait to use in my bullet journal, too!
Overall, I’m loving this Papergang subscription box. Each theme has been gorgeous, and they really strive to offer unique items in their boxes. With this being one of my problems with Birchbox, swapping over to Papergang has proved to be a great decision. Plus, stationery is more of a passion of mine than beauty is – it just makes more sense! Not only do they send you out a box every month, but they also provide free downloadable or printable goodies on their blog. So if you’re particularly in love with a design, you could use it as your phone’s wallpaper!
I can’t wait to see what theme they have next month! If you would like to see me feature Papergang’s April box on my blog, let me know in the comments below. It would be great to see if this is something that you all enjoy reading! And if you’re interested in getting your own Papergang subscription, here is my referral code!
What was your favourite theme and item out of all three boxes? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
