As you’ll already know if you read my How I Am Improving My Lifestyle post, I haven’t quite hacked the morning AND evening skincare routine yet. Right now, I cleanse and prep my face once a day. (Bad, I know!) Depending on when I shower, or when I have time, this could either be morning or evening. I was going to name this post my “night-time skincare routine” but considering that, I thought it wasn’t an accurate title. Instead, today, I’ll be taking you through my current skincare routine!
First off, I will remove my make up from the day. Usually I would use my cleanser to remove my make up and cleanse my face at the same time, unless I felt like I needed to double cleanse. I probably, doing it this way, should’ve double cleansed every time now that I think about it… whoops.
However, thanks to Magnitone London sending me their WipeOut! Cleansing Cloth*, I’ve updated and improved my routine! I’ve always been curious about the water-only cleansing cloths, and didn’t understand how they would work. Make-up wipes that are specifically created to remove make up can be underwhelming sometimes, so why would a damp cloth work better than that?
Boy, how I was wrong! This cleansing cloth worked wonders! In a couple of seconds, my mascara had been removed completely – even the tiny bits that usually cling to the roots of my eyelashes. This cloth is not only incredibly soft, but works better than any make-up wipe I have every used. My skin felt so fresh and thoroughly cleaned, and that was before I used my cleanser!
The great thing about these is that they’re massive and double sized. You could easily use one side to remove two separate days worth of make-up, without wiping your face with the part of the cloth you used the day before. I find that when I was removing my make-up with my cleasner, my muslin cloth would get dirty after one use, but I’d still re-use it anyway. Using this cloth is a lot more hygenic, and it feels so soft on your skin!
Once they’re dirty, all you have to do is shove it in the washing machine and it comes out feeling and looking just as soft as before! This cloth has honestly transformed my skincare routine, and I am loving it so much.
I have 5 basics when it comes to my current skincare routine, and these products are ones that I use every time I cleanse my face. Most of my skincare products are Liz Earle – I have used Liz Earle for a few years now, and I cannot recommend them enough!
I go in with the cult classic Cleanse and Polish to wash my face and remove any excess dirt. I then take a cotton pad and use the Instant Boost Skin Tonic, which makes me feel so fresh, followed by the Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion. I’ve always been confused by the name of this, as “lotion” makes me think that it would be a cream. However, it’s liquid just like the toner. Not that I’m complaining – it makes my eyes feel more alive, which is perfect in the early mornings or when you’re hungover/ill.
I use The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution next, which is a tea tree serum. It’s not too strong so you can use this every day in your skincare routine, which is what I do. It’s a water-based serum as well, so it doesn’t leave you oily or sticky like other serums would! It soaks in fairly fast, and that’s when I finish my routine off with the Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser.
These two items are ones that I don’t use every day. I have the Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator, which I try to use once a week, however I’m considering bumping it up to twice a week. Like the name suggests, it is a gentle exfoliator and isn’t too harsh on the skin. It’s great for me as I don’t have sensitive skin per say, but heavy exfoliators can leave my cheeks and forehead looking a bit red afterwards!
The next product is The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Night Mask. I love night masks! You get the benefits of a face mask without the hassle of washing them off again. Also the mask can get to work as your skin is repairing itself over night, and even help boost the reparation process!
When I was buying this product, the person who served me in The Body Shop recommended that I should alternate between exfoliating and applying the mask every few nights. So, exfoliate, then 2-3 days later, apply the night mask before I go to bed. Then, another 2-3 days later, exfoliate again. The breaks in between each treatment will allow the skin to recover!
That is my current skincare routine! Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed this post.
