August Bullet Journal

August Bullet Journal

Welcome to my August bullet journal spread! We’re back again with another monthly bullet journal post, and this time it’s very simple as I know I’m going to be very busy. I’m going to be working a lot during August as it is the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this month, and I work in a cocktail bar in the Old Town. We’re also a Fringe venue so it’ll be very busy, long hours and lots of work!

This month I took a little bit of inspiration from Pinterest, but mostly came up with my main calendar spread myself. I’m quite proud of that, so let me show you what I’ve done!

For my main calendar page (minus 3 days, but they aren’t Fringe days so I don’t mind so much) I’ve done a clothes peg design. It wasn’t what I was going for originally, but then it ended up looking a bit like a clothes line, so I thought adding pegs in would be super cute!

I used my calligraphy pen to write the month title and thing it turned out pretty cute, considering the pen is for more bulky calligraphy, as opposed to a flowing one like this.

I used blue and purple in my theme this month. Not sure why, but those colours just felt right for me. I messily highlighted the dates, which I like, and highlighted the weekends in a different colour to the weekdays. Weekends are the busiest times for a bar, especially during the Fringe (even though bars tend to be busy even on weekdays in August, too) – this is just to keep my on track of my work’s busier days!

I then used some cute blue and purple washi tape to tie the page together!

On the next page, I added in the last 3 days of the month, which since the Fringe will be over by then, should be fairly chill. I added a little “self love and improvement” section to fill up the page at the bottom. This is just to remind me to look after myself during this busy month, and make time for me, my mental health, and my hobbies.

The next page after that is just going to be a doodle page, for me to scribble and draw whenever I feel like it.

That’s all for my bullet journal this month! It’s short and sweet, but exactly what I need since it’s going to be a hectic month for me.

What bullet journal theme are you going with this month?

Your spread is so pretty! Attempting my first bullet journal at the moment, so definitely appreciate the inspiration. Good luck for the Fringe! I worked in a food stall a couple of years ago, and it was pretty hectic – can’t imagine what it must be like for bars. I had so much fun though! It’s such a great atmosphere. 😊

Thank you so much! I’m still learning with mine, too. Good luck for yours! ☺️ Haha thanks, I’m gonna need it. Surprisingly though, there can be some real quiet days, which is the complete opposite from last year! Yeah, definitely ☺️

Thank you, Cora! I get what you mean, I can be the same sometimes, which is exactly why my August one is really simple as I know I won’t be able to keep up with it that much this month!

Bullet journaling is so pretty, and it looks so fun and meditative. Buuut…also kind of daunting and frustrating because I’m not artistic, and I would keep scrapping pages if it didn’t look perfect enough. How did you get in to bullet journaling? Did you find the system complicated to learn?

I’m not artistic at all, I’m just trying to improve my abilities as I go along! I think the most important thing to remember is that there are so many beautiful artists out there that make amazing bullet journal spreads, but your spread isn’t for them. Your bullet journal is for you, and its style is supposed to reflect and inspire you, not make you feel bad because someone else out there is better in your eyes! It doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be you 💖
