If you’re anything like me, exam season is a massive puddle of tears, stress, and leaving everything to the last minute. It also contributes to a huge downwards spiral in my mental health, which I always neglect because studying for and passing my exams are “more important” … which is a bunch of bullshit, but every semester, this is the stance I take and end up having a bit of a breakdown as a result. This is why I want to talk to you about looking after yourself during exams.
This semester, I’m trying to look after myself more while I study, instead of leaving it until after my exams are over. This post is more of a reflection on what I do wrong, and what I can do better to look after my physical and mental health, but I also hope that it may help some of you guys, too.
Now that the weather is starting to warm up and actually feel like Spring, I wanted to share my top Spring outfit picks with you! I’m so excited to wear all these outfits and not have to cover up my clothes with jumpers and big, chunky jackets. I hope you like them!
This last week I went to a themed cocktail bar in Edinburgh, run by the Pop-Up Geeks. Every couple of months they change the theme of the bar, and this time round it was a Harry Potter cocktail bar!
I took so many photos (and had quite a few cocktails) but it was very dark, and I was using my phone rather than my camera, so you’ll have to excuse the quality. The cocktails we’re delicious, and they had so many different flavours and drinks to offer, and at points they would play songs from the soundtrack, which just added to the amazing experience.
First off, as you walk in, the bar is decorated with letters hanging from the ceiling and framed declarations (like Umbridge’s) on the walls. The space itself is very small, but cosy.
Last Christmas, I received a Polaroid printer as a gift from my parents. I’ve wanted a Polaroid camera for years, but my parents thought that a the printer was a bit more up-to-date and a cool gadget to get me, and I totally agree! (Although, I’m sure at some point in the future I will buy a camera as well.)
It works via bluetooth – there is NO ink involved! You download an app on your phone and through that you can print off any photo on your camera roll! This is great as you can pick a good photo and know that it’s going to print out nice, rather than take a picture on a Polaroid camera and only realise once it was printed out, that the lighting is wrong or you look a bit crazy.
